Milwaukee County Age-Friendly Communities Steering Committee

The purpose of the Age-Friendly Milwaukee County initiative is to create a future in which Milwaukee County is embraced as “a community for a lifetime” through inclusivity, accessibility, and support for people of all ages, especially older adults, so that all residents can thrive and participate fully in all aspects of life.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, by 2034 the nation will have more people aged 65 or older than under 18 and by 2060, nearly 1 in 4 people in the United States will be at least 65 years old. This demographic shift presents an opportunity for communities that are prepared. Well-designed, age-friendly communities foster economic growth and make for happier, healthier residents of all ages.
