Boards and Committees
The Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services answers to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors as both a policy and budgetary body for all activities in our Disabilities Services, Youth & Family Services and Housing Services. The Milwaukee County Mental Health Board, as of 2015 Wisconsin Act 203, holds the same role of authority over our Behavioral Health Services. Additionally, the Combined Community Services Board holds an advisory role over DHHS Aging and Disabilities Services.
Further, DHHS maintains committees providing oversight for ethics at our Behavioral Health Services and for our Disability Resource Center.

Commission on Aging
The Commission on Aging is the policymaking body that oversees the Milwaukee County DHHS Area Agency on Aging. Commissioners are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Board. Commissioners are selected based on their proven interest and dedication to aging issues. They represent a diverse segment of the population with respect to age, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status and residence within the County.
