Medicare Enrollment Periods

• Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) =  7 months   
  • When you turn 65, you have 7 months to enroll in Medicare
    • 3 months before you turn 65
    • the month you turn 65
    • 3 months after you turn 65
• Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) 10/10 - 12/7   
  • You can make changes to your coverage
• Open Enrollment Period (OEP) 1/1 - 3/31     
  • Those with Medicare Advantage can switch plans or return to original Medicare
• Special Qualifying Event (SEP) Qualifying Event
  • Medicare offers Special Enrollment Periods for qualifying life events, such as moving, marriage, divorce, etc.
