Who We Are

The Milwaukee County DHHS Division on Aging provides a single point of access to services for people aged 60 and over. We affirm the dignity and value of older adults of this county by supporting their choices for living in and giving to our community.

Our vision is that all Milwaukee County elders will have the resources to live as independently as possible in their communities.

The DHHS Division on Aging is made up of the Area Agency on Aging and the Aging & Disability Resource Center.

2020 Year In Review

Area Agency on Aging

Congress established the Older Americans Act (OAA) in 1965 in recognition of the need for social services for older adults in our country. Area Agencies on Aging are a requirement of the OAA and are responsible for the development of a coordinated system for the delivery of social and other critical services to the community. Through the Area Agency on Aging, we provide funding to home- and community-based services and programs that affirm the dignity of older adults by supporting their choices for living in and giving to our community. The Area Agency on Aging receives funding through the OAA, the State of Wisconsin and Milwaukee County.
