Parking: Accessible parking spaces are available in the front row of the parking lot. Vehicles parked in these spaces must display a Disabled Parking Identification Permit hangtag or Disabled license plate.
Pathways: The Gardens have a mixture of pathways. There are gravel, asphalt and brick paths. However the grade may be challenging for persons using manual wheelchairs and walkers.
Public Safety: For the safety of our visitors, no weapons (guns, personal safety devices, sharp implements, etc.) are permitted inside any of our buildings.
Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are located in the Education and Visitor Center and the Comfort Station.

Wehr Nature Center is a gem of the Milwaukee County Parks. With 220 acres and 5 miles of trails going through forest, prairie, savanna, and wetland, Wehr is the ideal place to enjoy, learn, and rejuvenate. WNC's award winning staff and volunteer program goes hand-in-hand with the more than 40-year-old tradition of fostering meaning nature connections for all Milwaukee County residents.
Wehr Nature Center and the Friends of Wehr are dedicated to the goal of becoming the most accessible nature center in southeast Wisconsin. Wehr Staff and Volunteers hold the belief that Wehr is "a place for all seasons, a place for everyone." Amphitheater: Bench seating, height of 18 inches, without backs. Platform at the top of the amphitheater is used as accessible seating. Three temporary companion seats can be added to accompany the three accessible seats during public events. Ramp access to stage.
Entrances: Front entrance is currently the only accessible entrance with automatic doors with a clear open width of 32 inches. There are no stairs to building entrance.
Food Service: There are no food services; juice, water, hot chocolate, coffee and granola bars are sold at the front desk.
Nature Exhibits: Permanent and seasonal exhibit areas throughout the building have an accessible route of travel. Overall, items are within average line of site. Mobile, hands-on tables are between 21-24 inches tall. One table displays skulls, shells and other artifacts. Another table is full of sensory items, including feathers, skins, etc.
Nature Store: Gift shop with nature-themed gifts, books, and activity kits. Doors remain open, with clear open width of 59 inches. Overall, there is a clear route of travel throughout the shop.
Observation Deck: Accessible deck offers a scenic view of Mallard Lake and is a great spot for bird watching. The deck has three benches for companion seating.
Parking: Accessible parking is available in the marked spaces closest to the Nature Center building. There are two spots on the first side of the lot and three spots directly across. Distance from parking to entrance is 246 ft.
Pier: An accessible pier is located on Wetland Trail. Scenic view of Mallard Lake and wildlife viewing. No fishing permitted on Nature Center property.
PreK-12 Fieldtrips and Scout/Youth Groups: Supports and activity accommodations available. Please contact the Accessibility & Inclusion Coordinator to make arrangements prior to your visit.
Reception: Reception area is easily located just past automatic front entry. Front desk is marked with large "Admissions" sign. The area stands out front the rest of the building as its walls are painted bright green. Counter height is 40 inches.
Restrooms, Men’s: Push plate entrance, pull handle exit. Doors can be propped open upon request. Free floor space in stall 62 inches X 32 inches with toilet height of 17 inches, 2 grab bars. Sink height is 33 inches.

Trail: Wetland Trail is currently being converted to a loop trail with a connection from the accessible amphitheater area. It is an elevated boardwalk through the wetland natural area including; accessible pier, scenic view of lake, gathering area with benches, bridge over stream bed. Sections of the boardwalk trail are still under construction. Until final boardwalk connections are made, the trail is used as a one way trail (out and back on the same trail).

Disc Golf: An accessible 3-hole Disc Golf course is located on the grounds southeast of the facility along the accessible path.
Drinking Fountain: Accessible drinking fountain is located in the main hall on the south wall, east of the kitchen.
Emergency Evacuation: Please check the emergency evacuation plans located near the entrance of the building to locate your nearest escape route.
Entrance: The main entrance is accessible, as well as the other entrances/exits of the building.
Food Service: Wil-O-Way Underwood also offers an accessible kitchen, including a stove, oven, refrigerator, and microwave.
Parking: Accessible parking spaces east of the main entrance, and has additional parking north of the building as well.
Picnic Tables: Accessible picnic tables throughout the grounds.
Play Area: This area includes a wheelchair accessible state of the art playground with "roll-in" sandbox. Also near the play area is an accessible basketball court, as well as accessible pathways around the facility.
Public Safety: To encourage building safety, weapons, personal safety devices, sharp implements, etc. are not allowed in the building.
Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are located on the south side of the main hall near the kitchen.
Service Animals: Pets are not allowed in Wil-O-Way Underwood. Service animals that assist individuals with disabilities and comply with the Milwaukee County ADA Service Animal Procedure are welcome in Wil-O-Way Underwood.

Drinking Fountains: Accessible water fountains are found throughout the building.
Elevators: Elevator is located at the East Entrance, to access the dining site.
Emergency Evacuation: Each floor has a signed designated area of rescue assistance. People unable to use stairways to evacuate the building are to wait in these areas to be escorted out of the building by safety personnel.
Entrances: Both the east entrance, and the circle driveway entrance are wheelchair accessible.
Food Service: The senior center offers a meal program available Monday - Friday at 11:30, located in the lower level. Access to the lower level is located at the east entrance. There is a suggested donation of $3.00 for anyone over 60, and a fee of $7.00 for anyone below. Please register the day before if you would like a meal.
Parking: Parking is located east of the building in the large lot. Drop off is available at the circle driveway.

Sign Language Interpreters: Individuals needing a sign language interpreter should contact the department, division, office, and/or person you need to communicate with and ask them to arrange for an interpreter for you. Sign language interpreter requests should be directed to the Office for Persons with Disabilities.

Admission: Groups of individuals with disabilities from an organization will receive free admission and parking if they have pre-registered the organization’s visit. Groups should present their confirmation letters from the Zoo showing that they have registered their organization with special needs, and present it to the gate supervisor. - Giraffe Experience (presented by Miller Lite): Wheelchair accessibility via ramp.
- Goat Yard: For the safety of our animals, service animals are not permitted in the Goat Yard.
- Ocean Connections Seal & Sea Lion Programs: There is a wheelchair accessible area from which to watch the show. For the safety of our animals, service animals are not permitted in the first three rows of the bleachers.
- Safari Train (sponsored by North Shore Bank): Accessible only for transfers. There is a separate gate for wheelchairs and other mobility devices; please notify ticket seller. Wheelchairs and other mobility devices may be left on the platform while on train ride.
- Sky Adventure Zip Line and Ropes Courses: Currently not ADA accessible.
- Sky Safari: Currently not ADA accessible.
- Zoo Expeditions (sponsored by Meijer): One of the Zoo’s three trams is accessible. Please call ahead to ensure availability of the accessible tram on the day of your visit.
Drinking Fountains: Accessible water fountains are available in various Zoo buildings and are typically located outside of the restrooms.
Elevators: There are accessible elevators located in the Peck Welcome Center and the Karen Peck Katz Conservation Education Center.
Entrances: All Zoo buildings that are publicly-accessible have a wheelchair accessible entrance.
Family (unisex) Restroom: A family (unisex) restroom with changing area is located outside of the Zoo Gift Shop, next to the First Aid Station.
First Aid: A First Aid Station is located outside of the Zoo Gift Shop, across from the Sky Trail Ropes Course.
Food Service: The Flamingo Café is located on the northern end of the U.S. Bank Gathering Place. There are other concession stands located throughout the Zoo grounds that are open seasonally – please visit milwaukeezoo.org for hours and other details.
Parking: Accessible parking spaces are available in the front of lots 1, 2 and 3. Vehicles parked in these spaces must display a Disabled Parking Identification Permit hangtag or Disabled / Veteran license plates.
Picnic Tables: There are picnic tables that offer accessibility throughout the Zoo grounds.

The Zoo is a smoke-free attraction (including e-cigarettes and vaporizers). Smoking is allowed only in the Zoo parking lots.
Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are located in the following buildings: Aquatic & Reptile Center, Giraffe, Nourish 414, Family Farm Marketing and Communications Offices, Dairy Complex, Peck Welcome Center, Primates of the World, Florence Mila Borchert Big Cat Country, Flamingo Café and U.S. Bank Gathering Place. Family restrooms with changing areas are located outside of the Zoo Gift Shop and at the West Entrance.
Sensory Processing Needs: The Milwaukee County Zoo features quiet areas, headphone zones, and offers for use sensory bags (located at Guest Services in the US Bank Gathering Place, and the Welcome Center in the Peck Welcome Center) with noise canceling headphones, fidgets, feeling zones cards, weighted lap pad, and more.
