What We Do

Under the direction of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Workforce Training and Development designs, delivers and/or facilitate various types of trainings (e.g., onboarding, regulatory, certification, skill-based, mindset and practice, internships) for DHHS employees, contracted employees, students/interns and community-based providers.

DHHS New Employee Orientation

DHHS New Employee Orientation (NEO) occurs every other Monday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is held at the Marcia P. Coggs Building. Attendance is mandatory for all DHHS staff. Since NEO is dedicated to a full day, we will watch the countywide virtual orientation together as a group. Then we will continue the day with DHHS presentations that cover an array of topics that are vital to new employees:

  • DHHS Overview
  • DHHS Strategic Plan
  • DHHS Work Guide

To learn more, see our DHHS NEO Agenda and DHHS NEO Course Breakdown documents.

Yes, contracted staff will have access to HealthStream. If you currently do not have access, but believe you should, please contact [email protected] with the HealthStream Account Request Form.

  How do I get started?

All community providers access HealthStream online using their agency email address, you can access your HealthStream account with the link below:

Your UserID is your full agency assigned email address. If this is your first-time logging into HealthStream or you’ve forgotten your Password, you will need to select Forgot Your Password? link. Enter in your agency email address to complete the password reset process.

Where do I go with questions?

HealthStream is supported by the team in DHHS Workforce Training and Development. If you’re having issues logging into the system, need adjustments to you or your team’s accounts, or have any other questions, reach to us via email at [email protected]. Please allow 1 - 2 business days for a response.

What kind of training opportunities will be available in HealthStream?

Training opportunities include online trainings, virtual live trainings, and in person trainings on a variety of topics including but not limited to:

  • Safety Training
  • Seminar Series
  • Social Determinants of Health
  • Cultural Humility
  • Trauma Informed Care
  • DHS licensure requirements (DHS 34, DHS 36)

But all my trainings are in Moodle, why are we changing?

As DHHS continues to align across the department we are working to retire different training systems and use just one system for all DHHS trainings. HealthStream will become the only DHHS-wide LMS moving forward. Thank you for navigating multiple systems as we work to coordinate the amazing work happening in our community.

How does this connect to the County's strategic priorities?

Utilizing a DHHS-wide consistent training tool will enable DHHS to further the county’s vision of becoming the healthiest county by providing access to robust training opportunities for all Milwaukee County and contracted staff.

To ensure training materials meet the standard, we have listed the guidelines on how to develop a training below.
