Pelican Cove in Kosciuszko Park
Closed for the 2020 Summer Season
On May 22 we made the tough decision to keep all our deep-well pools, two indoor pools and three of our aquatic parks closed for the season. (The closed aquatic parks are Cool Waters, Schulz Aquatic Center and Pelican Cove. The Hoyt Park Pool, operated by the non-profit Friends of Hoyt Park, is currently planning to open for the summer of 2020.)
This was an incredibly difficult choice to make because we know what our pools mean to the community. Factors contributing to this decision were physical distancing recommendations, limits on group sizes, the shortage of available lifeguards, the drastic toll the pandemic has had on the county budget and significantly reduced parks staffing levels.
We are hopeful that we will be able to open a good number of our wading pools and splash pads to provide relief from the summer heat. We are looking at options that will offer opportunities equitably distributed across the park system.
Join us in 2021 at Pelican Cove, the region's most affordable water park! Dive in with water slides, water spray toys and more.
