Many of the programs, events and projects in Milwaukee County parks are made possible through the efforts of park friends groups, neighborhood associations and partner organizations. Numerous non-profit groups volunteer their time on a range of activities – from hosting summer concerts and fundraising to weeding and presenting educational programs.

Since 1977, The Park People of Milwaukee County, Inc. has helped to ensure a vibrant Milwaukee County park system by mobilizing community volunteers, leading initiatives such as Weed-Out, offering tangible tributes/memorials such as commemorative benches and trees, and increasing community awareness.
The Park People also operates as an umbrella organization for many park-specific friends groups throughout Milwaukee County.

These three groups, each a 501(c)(3), present special events and educational programs, raise funds and manage the on-site gift shops as well as tangible tribute/memorial programs. Membership benefits include free admission and parking at the associated facility, discounts on select programs and events, and discounts on items in the gift shop.

Milwaukee Parks Foundation engages our community in supporting Milwaukee County Parks to collectively steward a thriving park system.
To ensure a vibrant park system for all, The Foundation’s growing membership program offers giving options to everyone and brings together the community and its resources.
