Initiate A Project
Thank you for your interest in improving Milwaukee County Parks! We have a few avenues to make it easy for you to make a project request and understand our most common request processes. Use the forms below to submit a project request. Most requests are reviewed twice a year, so anticipate submitting your request several months in advance of your desired schedule.
Examples of successful Community Project Requests:
- Friends of Grant Park – Wil-O-Way Steps Installation
- MKE Alliance Against Racism – Mural at Lucille Berrien Park
- Friends of Estabrook Park – Tunnel Entrance Restoration
- Friends of LaFollette Park – Pollinator Garden
- WI Bike Fed – Bike Safety QR Signs at Little Menomonee and Lincoln Creek
External Grant Proposals
If you would like to submit for a grant for a project that involves Milwaukee County Parks land, please complete this form prior to your grant submission. This process helps us understand what’s being proposed, ensures alignment with our mission and long-term goals, and determines what involvement, review, or approval may be needed.
Typically, requests that are reliant on grants need to be approved via a determination letter before filling out the intake form. If a grant deadline is before the Milwaukee County Parks determination date, please reach out to Tony Giron at [email protected] for a preliminary approval option.

Community Project Requests
The Community Project Request process allows members of the public or organizations to submit construction projects, such as installation of something in the ground, organic or otherwise. Requests may range from renovating a building, to planting a pollinator garden. For projects that do not include construction but do need planning and community coordination, please submit the External Grant Proposal intake form instead of the Community Project Request form.
Spring Submission Deadline: May 11, 2026 (determination by June 8, 2026)
Fall Submission Deadline: Nov. 9, 2026 (determination by Dec. 7, 2026)
Art Installation Request
Members of the public or organizations may submit proposals for review by an Art Review Team made up of local artists and Parks staff. Requests may range from sculptures to murals for temporary to permanent duration. The Art Review Team meets twice per year to review submissions, which are rated with considerations to design, maintenance, safety, and community connection. If a project advances, it may require a Right of Entry Permit and Maintenance Agreement. Projects that are approved will need to be managed and implemented by the applicant.

Renaming a Park, Parkway, Parks Facility
Parks, parkways and park facilities are public assets that foster dynamic connections within our community. Their names contribute to the culture and identity of our community.
The public is welcome to propose new names that align with the geographic, historical, cultural or social significance of the location, and may recognize significant contributions of individuals or organizations to the local community, Milwaukee County, the State of Wisconsin, the United States of America or Native lands.
