- Provision innovative, cost-conscious software solutions
- Design, deliver and support custom and vendor-supported application solutions that support departmental needs
- Develop and deliver robust reporting
- Administer and support countywide cloud-based and enterprise applications
- Administer and support county websites
- Enhance business value and empower departments to better serve their customers
Information Security
Provide appropriate security controls and oversight across the county networks, systems and other technology to reduce attack services and manage cybersecurity risk. Responsibilities include:
- Mitigate technological risk through securing, monitoring and auditing technology systems and data
- Monitor cyber security alerts and notices from CISA, DHS, WSIC CRT, MS-ISAC and our security operations solutions that empower us to move quickly
- Use ML/AI tools with behavior analytics and probabilistic mathematics that enable us to see deep into our network and endpoints for quick discovery
- Deploy SIEM, MDR, IDR and vulnerability scanning to provide holistic information and event correlation
- Develop and deliver security awareness training tailored to our environment
- Manage security incidents with cross-team support, documented processes and forensics teams

Governance & Business
The business solutions team serves as the county’s strategizing mechanism which organizes the corporate elements revolving around design, staffing, management and policies. Determining what metrics are to be utilized for measuring performance is another critical task of this team to gauge where the county stands currently, compared to where it needs to be. Among the critical functions of the business solutions team are:
- Managing certain IT fiscal elements such as cost, budget, and vendor optimization
- Having data-driven approaches in analyzing business functions we can gather the requirements from our clients to provide the best service and solutions
- Creating and improving relationships is the most vital function of this team. By being able to have a customer-focused approach to delivering solutions we can improve ties between the business and IT
Project Management Office
The IMSD Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for portfolio and project management of countywide Information Technology projects. The PMO provides the framework and expertise to manage IT projects, initiatives and other duties. Responsibilities include:
- Improving the speed and value of Milwaukee County technologies made through stable and well-ordered project methods
- Providing project management leadership, standards, repeatable processes and best practice methods
- Promoting delivery of quality products, closing projects on time and within budget, and delivering objectives identified during project initiation
Infrastructure Services
Provide high quality, innovative and transformative IT systems, network, and telecom solutions including research, acquisition, installation, maintenance and support services for countywide telecommunications and data network infrastructure, as well as server, storage, backup and Office 365 environments. Responsibilities include:
- Manage server environment for efficiency, response time, and availability in support of Milwaukee County government operations.
- Maintain support of server and storage infrastructure
- Architect, design, plan, configure and provision wide-area and local-area networks
- Provision and maintain private and guest WiFi and Internet services
- Provision voice, video and conferencing services
- Provide oversight for backup and disaster recovery programs
Service Desk and Desktop Support
Enhance customer service and end-user uptime through the use of technology standards, IT service management best practices and Information Technology Infrastructure Library governance procedures including but not limited to incident, service, change and problem management. Responsibilities include:
- Provide a single point of contact for technology users
- Manage service requests, incidents and problems for all divisions in Milwaukee County
- Manage computer and mobile device replacements and additions
- Manage software licenses and distribution
- Manage identity and access management requirements
- Manage and maintain desktop enterprise architecture
- Administer mobile device management
