Supervisor Caroline Gómez-Tom

Dear Neighbor,

I am proud to serve District 14 on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. I am committed to uplifting our community’s voice and encourage residents to reach out to share their ideas, concerns, and hopes for our district and for Milwaukee County.

My goal is to help ensure that everyone in District 14 and throughout Milwaukee County has the resources they need to thrive, and that all people are safe and respected in the places where they live, work, and play.

I hope to serve as a bridge between the community and the policies that shape our day-to-day lives, and that begins with listening. Please do not hesitate to reach out. Your voice is so important.

About Supervisor Caroline Gómez-Tom

Caroline Gómez-Tom was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. As the daughter of working-class, immigrant parents from Mexico, Caroline was instilled with a strong work ethic and dedication to family and community. She watched her parents work multiple jobs and sacrifice to make ends meet, and in some cases, still come up short in a system not built for them. Her parents’ experience inspired Caroline’s commitment to lifting up the community, working in outreach and policy, and building bridges to support working families.

Caroline graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a double major in political science and social work. She also holds a master’s degree in social work with a concentration in social policy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Caroline works for Covering Wisconsin, a program at UW-Wisconsin Madison, Division of Extension and in her role works to help people across Wisconsin understand and access affordable health insurance coverage and care. She also worked for Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers from 2019-2021 in community engagement, during the COVID-19 emergency response.

Caroline is currently on the board of the Milwaukee Latino Health Coalition (MLHC), Children’s Health Alliance of Wisconsin (CHAW), and Kids Forward. In 2022, she was elected the president of the City of Milwaukee Board of Health. This term will run for the 2022-2023 session.

In 2016, she was honored as one of the “40 Under 40 Leaders in Minority Healthcare” by the National Minority Quality Forum.

Caroline moved to the southside of Milwaukee in December 2013 and purchased a home in the Garden District in 2015 where she lives with her husband and two rescue dogs. In her free time, she is a member of the Milwaukee Choristers and enjoys gardening, cooking, and supporting local restaurants.

Currently, Supervisor Gómez-Tom serves as:

  • Chair of the Intergovernmental Relations Committee
  • Vice-Chair of the Health Equity, Human Needs, and Strategic Planning Committee
