About Supervisor Steve F. Taylor
Supervisor Steve F. Taylor has served on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors since first being elected in April 2012. He was re-elected in 2016, returned to the Board in 2022 after a four-year absence, and was re-elected again in 2024. He represents the 17th District, which includes Franklin (from 27th Street to 51st Street) and all of Oak Creek.
A Muskego native, Supervisor Taylor earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. At just 21 years old, he was elected to the La Crosse Common Council in 1997, serving until 2001. From 2002 to 2006, he lived in East Lansing, Michigan, where he was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals before returning to Wisconsin.
During his early tenure on the Milwaukee County Board, his colleagues elected him 2nd Vice-Chairman, a role he held for six years. Currently, Supervisor Taylor serves as:
- Chairman of the Committee on Community, Environment, and Economic Development and the Capital Improvements Committee
- Vice Chair of the Committee on Parks and Culture and the Committee on Finance
He has also been appointed to several boards and commissions, including:
- Milwaukee County Commission on Aging
- Milwaukee Art Museum Board of Trustees
- Milwaukee Regional Innovation Center Board of Directors
- Milwaukee Child Welfare Partnership Council
A Franklin resident since 2006, Supervisor Taylor previously served as an Alderman and Franklin Common Council President from 2008 to 2014. He also served on the Finance, Forward Franklin Development, Licensing, and Civil Celebrations Committees as well as the Community Development Authority. After winning a recall election in 2015, he returned to the Franklin Common Council, where he served until 2020.
Taylor is also the Executive Director of the ROC Foundation (Return on Community), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting other organizations and creating unique experiences for youth, high school students, and young adults in sports, recreation, education, employment, and wellness.
