Public Safety: Creating Safer Communities 

 

Public safety is fundamental to the quality of life in Milwaukee County. A comprehensive public safety strategy supports residents, businesses, and visitors alike by reducing crime, improving emergency response, and enhancing the justice system. Milwaukee County is committed to fostering a safe environment through proactive prevention, effective rehabilitation, and strategic investments in justice and infrastructure.  

Priorities include:

 

  • Youth Justice: Expand diversion programs that connect young people with education and job opportunities. 
  • Community Reentry: Support individuals transitioning from incarceration to employment and stable housing. 
  • Violence Prevention: Strengthen partnerships with organizations focused on reducing violence and providing crisis intervention. 
  • Investing in Justice: Plan and design a modern courthouse complex to improve access to legal processes. 
  • Safe Streets: Enhance pedestrian and traffic safety through infrastructure improvements and enforcement initiatives.
