Today, the Milwaukee County Board voted to approve the appointment of Aaron Hertzberg as Director of the Department of Administrative Services.
“Congratulations to Aaron Hertzberg on completing the final step in the process to become the new leader of the Department of Administrative Services,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. “Aaron’s quick confirmation speaks to the confidence County leaders have in his abilities to support County departments and advance our shared vision to achieve racial equity.”
Hertzberg began at Milwaukee County in 2018 as the Director of Economic Development where he was instrumental in advancing public-private partnerships and transactions including closing the deal on the sale of $32 million worth of land at the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, finding a long-needed solution to sell the County Grounds water system, and negotiating a letter of intent for the new community-based Mental Health Emergency Center. Last year, Hertzberg created a small business grant program that awarded nearly $12 million in grants with over two-thirds of the funding going to minority-, women-, or veteran-owned businesses. Most recently, he helped bring cross-sector partners together to finalize financing for the Couture, a transit-oriented development that will change our skyline and our economy through an infusion of well-paying, shovel-ready construction jobs. Last week, County leaders held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Couture development which is already under construction.
"I'm thankful for the Board's support,"said Hertzberg. "I look forward to continued collaboration and open communication with the Board. Together, I'm confident we'll make real progress towards our strategic plan and improve outcomes in Milwaukee County."
