Youth Commissioner Lara Arbiyat
Dear Neighbors,
I chose to serve on the Milwaukee County Youth Commission because I believe young people deserve to have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives, education, and community. I want to help improve educational opportunities for students across Milwaukee County and make sure young people have access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. The Youth Commission gives me the opportunity to listen to my peers, bring their ideas and concerns forward, learn more about local government, and work with other young leaders to create positive change. My favorite part is being able to connect with other youth and turn our ideas into action. Biography
Lara currently serves as a District 18 Commissioner on the Milwaukee County Youth Commission. Lara is a ninth-grade student at Hmong American Peace Academy and is passionate about youth leadership, education, law, and civic engagement. Lara is also involved in student government at her school, where she enjoys representing her peers and helping create a positive school community. Lara is an honor roll student and has participated in college and law-related programs, including the Marquette University Law School’s Summer Youth Institute. Lara hopes to use her role on the Youth Commission to advocate for better educational opportunities and make sure young people have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their communities. Lara also plans to become involved in more programs, clubs, and leadership opportunities throughout high school.
