District 17
Ravneet Kaur
Youth Commissioner Ravneet Kaur
Dear Neighbors,
I chose to serve on Milwaukee Youth Commission because it is important to have youth be at the head of advocacy and movements that impact their future. Serving on the Youth Commission gives me the opportunity to be the voice for my peers and truly make a difference in my community. As a bi-racial, first generation Asian American, I deeply understand how systematic barriers limit opportunities for marginalized communities. Serving on the Milwaukee Youth Commission will allow me to amplify youth voices and drive meaningful policy change and resource distribution across our county. My favorite part about serving on the Youth Commission is the unique opportunity to work hands on in my county by learning more about our government and community. The Youth Commission provides the opportunity to work with a diverse group of youth who represent other districts across the county to help create county wide solutions that promote cultural competency, equitable access to recourses, and youth empowerment. This position represents an opportunity to transform advocacy into actionable & inclusive policy. I am excited to serve my county and collaborate with my peers in order to do so! Feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas on how we can make a better Milwaukee County!
