County Executive David Crowley Appoints Nick Sinram as Director of Office of Strategy, Budget, and Performance
MILWAUKEE – Today, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley announced the selection of Nick Sinram as the Director of the Milwaukee County Office of Strategy, Budget and Performance (SBP).
Nick Sinram is a dedicated public servant with extensive experience in local government administration. In his new role as SBP Director, Sinram will oversee countywide strategic planning efforts, manage the development of Milwaukee County’s $1.4 billion annual budget, and lead Milwaukee County’s Project Management Office that focuses on operational improvements, grant development, public policy, internal communications, and priority projects for the county.
“Since I’ve been County Executive, we’ve ended every single year with a budget surplus. Nick Sinram is well-suited to continue this track record, bringing new experience to this role that will allow us to address our fiscal challenges, responsibly manage taxpayer dollars, and maintain core services in the years ahead,” said County Executive Crowley. “I believe Nick will lead our budgeting and strategic planning efforts forward, navigate the turbulent fiscal environment, and build bridges to secure a sustainable financial future for Milwaukee County. I look forward to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors considering his appointment in the near future.”
Sinram’s background includes public sector law, strategy, and financial planning. For the past three years, Sinram has led the Department of Financial Planning and Budget Services at Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). In this role, he oversaw the development of a $1.6 billion budget that supports 9,500 employees, serving 60,000 students and their families. Sinram also worked to enhance compliance with policies and procedures, as well as implement educational and organizational practices and process improvements to ensure effective and efficient use of public resources.
Prior to that role, Sinram served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Milwaukee, acting as the primary legal counsel for MPS. In this role, he negotiated contracts, assisted in strategic planning, and advised on a range of topics related to the responsible use of taxpayer dollars. Sinram also worked in the City of Milwaukee’s Budget and Management Division, where he prepared and managed annual departmental budgets, conducted policy research and financial analysis, and helped guide strategic planning efforts related to municipal budgeting.
“I am honored to continue serving my community in this new role,” said Sinram. “I look forward to working with the talented team at Milwaukee County to ensure responsible stewardship of public resources and effective services for all residents.”
A lifelong Wisconsinite, Nick grew up in Prairie du Chien. He received his Bachelor of Public Administration at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and his Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School. Sinram resides in Wauwatosa.
Sinram will begin serving in the role on an interim basis in April. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. Upon confirmation, Sinram will replace Joe Lamers, who was recently appointed as the Director of the Milwaukee County Department of Transportation.
