County Executive Crowley Appointment of Nick Sinram as Director of Office of Strategy, Budget, and Performance Passes Committee Vote
MILWAUKEE – Today, the Milwaukee County Board Committee on Finance advanced the appointment of Nick Sinram as Director of the Office of Strategy, Budget, and Performance (SBP). The Committee on Health Equity, Human Needs and Strategic Planning also voted to advance his appointment last week.
“Since I’ve been County Executive, we’ve ended every single year with a budget surplus. Nick Sinram is well-suited to continue this track record, bringing new experience to this role that will allow us to address our fiscal challenges, responsibly manage taxpayer dollars, and maintain core services in the years ahead,” said County Executive Crowley. “As we look ahead to this budget cycle and beyond, we know difficult decisions will need to be made. Nick has spent his career navigating complex budgets, balancing competing priorities, and helping public institutions deliver results while maintaining fiscal responsibility. I am confident that his unique expertise in budgeting, financial oversight, legal analysis, and strategic planning will provide the leadership Milwaukee County needs as we continue charting a fiscally sustainable path forward.”
Mr. Sinram brings nearly a decade of experience in public finance, budgeting, law, and government operations to Milwaukee County. In his new role as SBP Director, Sinram will oversee countywide strategic planning efforts, manage the development of Milwaukee County’s $1.4 billion annual budget, and lead Milwaukee County’s Project Management Office that focuses on operational improvements, grant development, public policy, internal communications, and priority projects for the county.
Most recently, Mr. Sinram served as Director of Financial Planning and Budget Services for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). Despite the challenging fiscal environment MPS continues to face, Sinram did everything in his power to help the district chart a fiscally sustainable path forward, while also overseeing a budget that supports nearly 9,500 employees and more than 60,000 students across 156 schools. In that role, he advised district leadership on financial operations, promoted compliance with state and federal requirements, and implemented best practices to strengthen accountability and stewardship of public resources.
Prior to MPS, Sinram served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Milwaukee and held several positions within the City’s Budget and Management Division, where he managed departmental budgets, conducted financial and policy analysis, and helped advance strategic priorities.
“I am honored to continue serving my community in this new role,” said Sinram. “I look forward to working with the talented team at Milwaukee County to ensure responsible stewardship of public resources and effective services for all residents.”
A lifelong Wisconsinite, Nick grew up in Prairie du Chien. He received his Bachelor of Public Administration at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and his Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School. Sinram resides in Wauwatosa.
Sinram’s appointment will go in front of the full County Board next week.
