The Accounts Payable Division is responsible for establishment of countywide payment procedures, coordination with the Procurement Division, encumbrance of purchases, payment of vendor invoices, development and maintenance of the accounts payable systems and provision of technical assistance to departments.

  • The Accounts Payable Department utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to assist with efficient and timely invoice processing. The Accounts Payable Department also utilizes a highly rated Cyber Security Company to mitigate and assure ACH-EFT payments are securely processed. The use of progressive technology assists with conformity and providing secure payment processes. 
  • The Accounts Payable Department provides payment(s) for a product/service that requires adherence to government regulations, accounting standards, and relevant laws and ordinances. Internal controls are in place to prevent errors, fraud and the misuse of taxpayer money. All County Departments that purchase products or services utilize the Accounts Payable Department to assist in supporting their community services.

Accounts Payable Manager

Mary Jablonski is the Director of Accounts Payable for Milwaukee County. In this role, she is responsible for the development and management of accounts payable functions, working cross-functionally and collaboratively with Milwaukee County stakeholders and departments to ensure disbursements align with Milwaukee County's strategic and financial objectives. She ensures that Milwaukee County processes adhere to County, State, and Federal regulations, and is responsible for data analysis, vendor set-up, trend identification, as well as banking-ACH and 1099 reporting. Mary currently manages a team of seven accounts payable processors and one contract coordinator. She has been in this role since May 2021. Jablonski has held a variety of management positions in the banking, government, and private sectors. She is proud to be a people manager who prioritizes the well-being and development of her staff, taking accountability for both their successes and failures. Key projects she has led include the education and use of INFOR Cloud Suite - AP Module and County department awareness. Jablonski supports and utilizes progressive technology that enhances the functionality of her department. As a former County Financial Manager, she is aware of the responsibilities government employees have for the common good of constituents and transparency of activities to taxpayers.
