District 13
Kyree Dunn
Youth Commissioner Kyree Dunn
Dear Neighbors,
I chose to serve on the Milwaukee County Youth Commission to not only develop my professional skills, but also the place where I have lived my whole life and spend the vast majority of my time. I go to the schools, play in the parks, and utilize the library system. So it is important for me to be able to give back and contribute to the city that has provided me with so many opportunities.
An issue I care about in Milwaukee County is racial equity, specifically as it pertains to schools. MPS gives disproportionately fewer opportunities and less resources to schools whose population is majority students of color, and the effects of that can be seen in the graduation rates and test scores of those schools compared to other, predominantly white MPS schools. As a Youth Commissioner, I will work to ensure that kids in schools across MPS have equal opportunity, no matter their race or zip code.
I invite you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about our district.

She loves sports and participates in cross country, track, and basketball. She also recently joined forensics and is performing a 10 minute persuasive speech. She chose to serve on the Youth Commission because she wants to be able to give back and contribute to the community that has provided her with so many opportunities.
