Program Overview

The Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services Child Support Services is excited to announce the launch of its Back on Track Program. This new initiative is designed to help parents who owe child support resolve outstanding issues and improve compliance with payment obligations.

The program offers a 2-for-1 incentive for individuals with child support arrears owed to the State before 1996—pay $1 toward child support arrears, and receive a $2 reduction in state debt. The program also provides additional support for modifying orders, addressing old warrants, assisting with employment searches, and offering guidance on understanding and resolving child support cases.

Milwaukee County residents experiencing child support challenges are encouraged to call 414-340-0247 to access the Back on Track Program.

Key Program Features

1. Evaluating Your Case

Our team will conduct detailed case evaluations to identify financial issues and work with you to find solutions.

2. Educating Payors

We provide valuable information on options related to placement, custody, and debts. Participants will also be referred to special sessions at the Milwaukee Justice Center for assistance with case modifications and stipulations.

3. Resolving State Debt

We offer a significant financial incentive: for every $1 paid toward child support arrears owed to the other parent, participants will receive a $2 reduction in state debt. For cases before 1996, the program can completely eliminate state debt and interest upon payment toward family support.

4. Clearing Warrants

We collaborate with the courts to withdraw old warrants and set up return court dates, helping you stay on track with your obligations.

Note: For post-1996 cases, reducing debts is limited by state debt regulations. However, for pre-1996 cases, significant debt reduction or elimination is possible.

Why Participate?

Whether you are looking to modify your order, repay arrears, clear old warrants, or simply gain more clarity on your case, the Back on Track Program is here to assist.

Artis Landon, Administrator of Child Support Services, emphasizes, "Our team is ready to help. No matter the issue—whether it's a payment plan, understanding your case details, or clearing up old warrants—we are just a phone call away."
