Lacey Firehammer came to the Milwaukee County Office of Corporation Counsel in January 2019. She graduated from Concordia University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice management and has an additional associate degree in paralegal studies from the American Bar Association approved program at Madison College. Her prior professional experience has been in the private sector, practicing primarily in the areas of bankruptcy, civil litigation and criminal defense. Lacey’s current role in the OCC focuses on civil rights litigation, personal injury, employment discrimination, three-party petitions and guardianship work. She enjoys investigating and organizing information to uncover the truth in every case.

In March of 2019, Lacey applied and was selected to be a Racial Equity Ambassador for the Milwaukee County Office on African American Affairs. As an ambassador, she is dedicated and passionate about making Milwaukee County a better place to work and live. In addition to her work as an ambassador, Lacey works hand-in-hand with Corporation Counsel, Margaret Daun, to implement the OCC’s initiative to educate and improve the diversity and inclusion of the Milwaukee bar through cooperative partnerships with Milwaukee’s premiere law firms and other local public and private general counsels.

In her time away from the office, Lacey and her two children can be found enjoying all of the family-friendly events that Milwaukee County has to offer.

Stephanie Mackey joined the Milwaukee County Office of Corporation Counsel in August 2012. She graduated with scholastic recognition in 2008 from Milwaukee Area Technical College with an associate's degree in applied science with an emphasis on paralegal studies. She became a State Bar of Wisconsin Certified Paralegal in 2021. She provides litigation assistance to five attorneys, with a primary focus on civil rights and complex litigation in state, federal and appellate court, and administrative forums. Additionally, Stephanie works in a position of trust and discretion to assist Corporation Counsel and Deputy Corporation Counsel with special projects as needed. In addition to her primary litigation focus, Stephanie has extensive knowledge of personal injury, employment discrimination and public records litigation. As an experienced paralegal for the OCC, Stephanie handles all aspects of file management, including, but not limited to, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and discovery, gathering and analyzing documents, preparing for trial and communicating with stakeholders. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her five year old son and her new pug puppy, Lennox.

Sara Martin joined the Milwaukee County Office of Corporation Counsel in November 2019, following an 11-year career as a criminal law paralegal with Henak Law Office, S.C. She graduated cum laude from Knox College in June 2008 with a bachelor's degree in theater arts and completed a certificate program in paralegal studies at Milwaukee Area Technical College in May 2012. In her OCC role, she provides litigation support, handles three-party petitions, and assists with Watts guardianship reviews. She also helps maintain the OCC website. In her personal time, she teaches Hebrew School at Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid and enjoys sewing, singing, tabletop gaming and spending time with her two children.

Ashley McCune came to the Milwaukee County Office of Corporation Counsel in July 2014. She graduated from Alverno College in May of 2007 with a bachelor's degree in communications. Her professional experience includes working as a paralegal for a private, bankruptcy and foreclosure law firm. Ashley's primary focus is on Chapter 51 Emergency Detentions and Mental Health Commitments. She assists with calendaring, scheduling and drafting pleadings for mental health cases. Ashley assists with witness preparation and works with many outside case agencies regarding mental health in Milwaukee County.

Daniele joined the OCC in November of 2018. She supports our litigation paralegals and lawyers in adversarial civil litigation. She conducts legal research, draft documents of various legal disciplines, manage schedules, and ensures the efficient and effective administration of the OCC. Daniele prepares all matter of legal reports, maintains, and updates databases and tracking systems associated with OCC legal advisories and lawsuits.

Daniele is the process of pursuing her paralegal certification.

She is the proud mother of 3 adult children and 1 adorable fur baby. She enjoys spending time with family and crafting.

Rhonda Smith came to the Milwaukee County Office of Corporation Counsel in August 1998. Her professional experience includes over 29 years working as a legal assistant (secretary) and paralegal in the legal field (private and public sectors). She possesses both a bachelor's degree in criminal justice management and a master's degree in public administration and human resources management from Concordia University. She is also a State Bar of Wisconsin Certified Paralegal.
