Housing Division

 

The Housing Division is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the federal housing and community development funds awarded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  These Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and Home Investment Partnership (HOME) funds are used to meet three goals and objectives: Providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expand economic opportunity.

 

CDBG and HOME for Public Services and Facilities 

Funds provided to municipalities and non-profits agencies for facility rehabilitation, economic development activities and other projects.

Housing rehabilitation on owner-occupied housing for income-qualified households to address code deficiencies and lead hazards.

Rehabilitation assistance for income qualified households for rehab of items posing imminent danger to health and safety of household occupants

Milwaukee County provides housing subsidy and supportive services to chronically mentally ill homeless persons.

Section 8 Voucher Program

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is designed to accommodate very low-income families and individuals with rent assistance for decent, safe, and sanitary housing provided by private owners and rental agents.
