New Milwaukee County Parks Foundation Launches With Over $350,000 in Donations

A new Milwaukee County Parks Foundation was launched on Nov. 25, with over $350,000 in donations from Chris Abele, Cheri and Tom Briscoe, MillerCoors and Herb Kohl Philanthropies. Led by a diverse group of community organizers, corporate executives, nonprofit leaders, small business-owners and other members of the greater Milwaukee community, the Milwaukee Parks Foundation will spend 2020 focusing on investment priorities in the parks and promoting their founding member program.
Boerner Botanical Wins National Display Garden Award

Boerner's trial garden won first place in the the All-American Selections Design Competition. The contest challenges gardens to create a themed display using AAS Winning plants. Boerner's winning theme was an Alice In Wonderland inspired design. Read More.
Hold Onto Your Butt Campaign Launches at Bradford Beach

Milwaukee County Parks has teamed up with the City of Milwaukee Tobacco-Free Alliance and other local organizations for a new campaign to reduce cigarette butt litter in our parks and beaches. The effort includes the installation of cigarette butt receptacles at local beaches.
Columbus Park Renamed 'Indigenous Peoples' Park'

At a ceremony on Oct. 14, Indigenous Peoples Day, the Milwaukee park previously known as Columbus Park, was renamed to Indigenous Peoples' Park.

Green Bay Packers players, along with parks staff and volunteers, helped construct a new playground at Center Street Park on Oct. 1. The new playground is expected to be complete and open by the end of October.

Milwaukee Museum Week returns for a second year and The Domes will be taking part with a week of activities including a free youth day on Jan. 20, guided tours led by our expert horticulturalists, and extended hours and a light show on Jan. 23.
