Under Wisconsin  Public Records Law, Wisc. Stat. §§ 19.31 – 19.39, the Department of Human Resources is committed to making records available to the public. Requests for public records maintained by the Department of Human Resources may be made in person at the office, by U.S. mail, by phone or by email. You may also submit your request using the form below. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Milwaukee County will acknowledge in writing receipt of all written public records requests. Requests will then be reviewed and answered as soon as practicable and without delay. Wis. Stat. § 19.35(4)(a). In the event that there is a cost associated with locating responsive records, you will be provided with a cost estimate if that amount is anticipated to exceed $50. Wis. Stat. § 19.35(3)(c), (f). If responsive records exist, they will be vetted according to public records law to exclude non-public material such as Social Security numbers, private employee information, personal medical information and attorney-client communication. You will then be advised of the actual cost of reproducing responsive records at $ .15 per page and any postage costs. Wis. Stat. § 19.35(3)(a), (d).
