County Executive Crowley Connects Pulaski High School Students to Career Pathways During Public Works Week in Milwaukee County
MILWAUKEE - On Monday, May 19, 2025, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley proclaimed May 18 – 24, 2025 as Public Works Week in Milwaukee County at an event at Casimir Pulaski High School.
After the proclamation, County departments hosted a career event to connect students to career pathways in government service. The local event coincides with National Public Works Week, which is held each year to recognize those who plan, design, build, manage, and operate the infrastructure that ensures a high quality of life.
“Milwaukee County offers a variety of inspiring career paths, ranging from engineers who help design our highways to seasonal staff who make our parks welcoming to residents and visitors alike,” said County Executive Crowley. “By highlighting our public works professionals, it is our goal that more students will consider a career in government service to help build up our community and foster a brighter future for Milwaukee County.”
During the career fair, staff from several Milwaukee County departments spoke to students about careers in public works. Department of Transportation staff provided hands-on learning experiences with highway maintenance equipment, and Parks staff shared seasonal job opportunities for students looking for work over the summer.
“We are proud to partner with Pulaski High school, which houses Wisconsin’s largest high school automotive program,” said Milwaukee County Department of Transportation Director Donna Brown-Martin. “These students have a head start on acquiring skillsets that will prepare them for careers in high-demand fields that are important to government service.”
