Statement Addressing Inaccurate Information About Services Available at the Marcia P. Coggs Building
The Marcia P. Coggs Building Remains Home to Milwaukee County’s Department of Health & Human Services

MILWAUKEE, WI – In light of inaccurate reports of services available at the Marcia P. Coggs Building, the Office of the County Executive is issuing the following statement:

“The Marcia P. Coggs building, located at 1220 W. Vliet Street, is home to Milwaukee County Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS), including administration for Aging and Disabilities Services, Management Services, and with the closure of the Mental Health Complex in September, Behavioral Health Services is now located at the Coggs building.

“The general public can access the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and transportation GO Pass services on the 3rd floor of the Coggs building Monday-Friday. Additionally, the Friedan’s Food Pantry is located in the lower level of the Coggs building. DHHS has a strong relationship with the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and is working to finalize an agreement to have DHS staff present at the Coggs building to assist DHHS customers beginning December 1, 2022.

“Recently, the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve $32 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to develop a new Marcia P. Coggs health and human services building, next to the current building within the King Neighborhood, a trusted location where health and human services have been delivered for more than 50 years. Remaining in the King Neighborhood is key to servicing the community and with the opening of the Mental Health Emergency Center just one block away the County continues its upstream investments to meet residents’ needs.”
