Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley Statement on Successful Elections
Voter turnout 83%, 460,300 ballots cast in Milwaukee County
This morning, Milwaukee County Election officials announced the completion of ballot collection and counting for all central count communities within the county. County Executive David Crowley released the following statement thanking election officials, poll workers, and volunteers who prepared for months to ensure a safe and successful process on Election Night:
“Thank you to the Milwaukee County Election Commission for their leadership throughout the entire election process and the tremendous work done to collaborate with local municipalities to ensure each of the nearly half-million votes cast in yesterday’s election were counted.
“In the throes of the pandemic, we would never have been successful in holding yesterday’s election without the hard work and dedication of election officials, poll workers, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure voting in Milwaukee County was safe, free, fair, and accessible for everyone.
“Lastly, thank you to county residents for showing up and making their voices heard. I remain inspired by the tremendously high turnout in Milwaukee County across mail-in, early, and in-person ballots. Our focus on achieving racial equity hinges, in part, on the inclusion of all voices –especially those voices that have been historically marginalized economically, politically, and culturally.
”More people participating in the process and exercising their right to vote is a testament to the level of engagement across Milwaukee County and across the political spectrum, and to all those who helped make sure the COVID-19 pandemic did not get in the way of democracy. These are the true heroes of the election process and we are forever grateful for their tireless work."
