MILWAUKEE, WI – Last month, the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution to display Intersex Progress Pride Flags at County buildings and location throughout the month of June, otherwise known as Pride Month. The resolution, introduced by Supervisors Burgelis, Rolland, Clancy, and Martin, builds on Milwaukee County’s commitment to inclusivity and support for LGBTQIA+ residents. Today, County Executive David Crowley signed the resolution and helped raise the flag outside of the county courthouse. “Milwaukee County’s vision to achieve race & health equity includes protecting and advancing rights of our LGBTQ+ neighbors. The raising of the intersex pride flag is another way we’re enacting our strategic plan by creating and nurturing an inclusive culture across the county,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. “This month, we recommit ourselves to building inclusive spaces for all residents. Hate has no home here and we stand in support of LGBTQ+ residents in every corner of Milwaukee County.”
“I know firsthand that we still have work ahead to make our County more inclusive for all sexual orientations and gender identities. Flying this flag is a symbol of Milwaukee County’s commitment to all of our residents,” said Milwaukee County Supervisor Peter Burgelis. “During Pride Month in June, the LGBTQ+ community honors the trailblazers, activists, and the unsung heroes who paved the way for a more inclusive society and commit ourselves to building on their legacy. The County makes a stand that LGBTQ+ residents are seen, are heard, and are valued as an irreplaceable part of our community.”
