MILWAUKEE – This week, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley was presented with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award from Bob Strange, the ESGR Area Chair of Southeastern Wisconsin, for the extraordinary support he provides an employee in the United States Army Reserve. The ‘Patriot Award’ reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed. “Veterans know what it means to put in a hard day’s work and can appreciate a job well done. I value the passion our veterans have to serve others after they return home and I appreciate the many veteran changemakers among our ranks at the county,” said County Executive David Crowley. “While it is an honor to be personally recognized for our commitment to serving our veteran employees, I share this award with those on the front lines making sure that all of our residents, especially veterans, receive the care they need each day.” ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the National Guard and Reserve through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also aids in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers.
