Dia de los Muertos Celebration - The Domes
Organizer:Friends of the Domes
Time:6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Location:Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, 524 S Layton Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53215
The Desert Dome will be filled with candlelight, orange marigolds, and cheerful, brightly colored decorations to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.
Traditional ofrendas, or altars, will be located throughout The Domes, and the Show Dome will feature the music of Mariachi Zamora and dancing.
The evening will be infused with opportunities to learn about the background and meanings tied to this rich cultural event. Free activities for children include making tissue-paper marigolds and painting sugar skulls. If they’d like, the children can place their marigolds at the Community Altar in honor of someone they have lost. For a fee, the kids can create a decorative skull garden to take home. Special guest characters in traditional dress will present photo ops.
Local Mexican restaurants will be on-site to sell food and beverages.
Special event admission.
