Milwaukee County Aging & Disabilities Services is sponsoring free guided tours of Boerner Botanical Gardens this summer for older adults (60+). Participants have the opportunity to view Milwaukee County’s “Living Museum” with a 90-minute educational, docent-guided tour. The setting for the Gardens is reminiscent of an English country manor with glacial fieldstone walls and historic, handcrafted limestone statuary. Tours include the signature gardens, plant collections and wetland area. Participants will have the opportunity at the end of the guided tour to visit the gift shop. SIGN UP FOR A TOUR To reserve your spot contact Vincenza Doyne at (414) 289-5818 or
[email protected]. Reservations will be made on a first come first serve basis, with limited available spots. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance of the tour date. TRANSPORTATION AND ACCESSIBILITY Those enrolled in Milwaukee County Older Adult Transportation Service can take First Transit vans to get to Boerner Botanical Gardens. If arriving by car, the main entrance for the Gardens can be accessed via the Parkway off of W College Ave. Parking is free. The Education and Visitor Center are ADA accessible. Garden paths are also wheelchair accessible.
