Explosive Ordnance Disposal

Explosive Ordnance Disposal

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, which was established in 1971, responds throughout Southeastern Wisconsin for requests regarding explosives, suspicious packages, and other specialized calls for service. The E.O.D. Unit also provides training to first responders in the areas of improvised explosive device (IED) recognition and containment.

The E.O.D. Unit maintains an arsenal of tools to detect, identify and render safe hazardous devices, including x-ray equipment, bomb suits, containment/transportation trailers, and remote robotic systems. MCSO E.O.D. technicians receive ongoing training to develop and maintain a high degree of proficiency in their field.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s E.O.D. Unit has also partnered with the S.W.A.T. team in developing a seamless response to critical incidents, utilizing explosive breaching and robotics to increase safety for officers, offenders, and the public.

Equipment plays a large part in explosive disposal and render-safe procedures.
