Dear 13th District Residents,

I am so thankful to serve as your representative on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. I believe that ensuring the quality of and access to Milwaukee County services will help maintain a sufficient safety net for my constituents. Human services and behavioral health services are vital for everyone who has endured trauma during the pandemic and due to the racial disparities this country has witnessed and experienced. I will listen to your concerns regarding all matters of importance. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to serve you on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors!

About Supervisor Coggs-Jones

Supervisor Coggs-Jones was elected to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors in a special election in 2021. Before joining the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Coggs-Jones worked in human resources as a workshop facilitator. In this role, Supervisor Coggs-Jones developed skills in administrative tasks including interviewing, coaching, resume writing assistance and human services. Supervisor Coggs-Jones has a deep history of community involvement. In the area of workforce development, she has worked with a diverse group of individuals, including those coming out of incarceration, entry level job seekers, and people dealing with professional setbacks.

Supervisor Coggs-Jones is the founder of Urban Grass Roots (UGR) Inc., which provides community block clean-ups and embellishing efforts in partnership with residents. Her passion for beautification was sparked by her past work for Milwaukee County Parks at the lakefront. While working there she envisioned what our community could look like if we put a little more effort and time into enhancing our community. Since 2009, Ms. Coggs-Jones has showcased her vision for UGR Inc. through countless clean-ups, Earth Day celebrations and other enhancing activities. She strongly believes that with help from the community we can make a difference and impact for our neighborhoods.

Supervisor Coggs-Jones believes that collective effort and collaboration with residents lead to healthy communities, saying, “Our family’s commitment to humanity leaves a lasting impact on Milwaukee County. It is a priority for me to continue that commitment to humanity.”

Supervisor Coggs-Jones feels that we can continue to build on Milwaukee County Parks improvements with urban agriculture to decrease food insecurity. Such collaborations will bridge the gap between resources and the people.
