Transportation

Mission Statement:  To cost effectively plan, design and implement projects necessary to maintain and enhance the safety and efficiency of the County's highways, bridges, traffic control facilities, and transit systems.

 

 

 The Transportation Engineering Section has four functional areas:

 

   
 

Highway Engineering manages the design, and right-of-way acquisition for 87.2 miles of County Trunk Highway system. 

   

 

Traffic Engineering provides traffic engineering services for the County Trunk Highway system and 100 traffic signals under Milwaukee County jurisdiction.
   
 

Bridges & Structures Engineering conducts inspections and coordinates the planning, engineering, and administrative services for the design and construction of new bridges or rehabilitation of existing bridges for the County Trunk Highways, parkways, and other facilities owned by Milwaukee County.

   
  Construction Management provides field inspection, construction engineering and management, and contract administration for the transportation facilities.

 

The Transportation Planning, Development and Transit Section is responsible for the following.

   
  Provides multimodal transportation planning, development, and coordination; grants development, preparation, and administration; and transportation project and asset management.  In addition this section provides transit management oversight as the owner's representative in the County's mass transit system.
