Domes Survey Results

Recently, I sent out a district-wide survey to gauge constituent input on the future of the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (The Domes). I thank all 1,500 residents who participated in this survey, providing me with their input and experience with the Domes. This is an important subject and will become a top County priority in the years to come.

Below are the results of the survey, broken down by what respondents listed as their first choice, second choice, third choice, and fourth choice

Please rate in order from 1-4 with 1 being your most preferred option and 4 being your least preferred option.

  • Repair all three Domes structures (Repair). This option would include all three of the current Domes in their current location at a cost of approximately $60 million.
  • Remove and build new Domes at the current site (Rebuild). In this option, all three Domes would be demolished and new domes would be constructed at Mitchell Park. The cost for this option is approximately $80 million.
  • Demolish the three standing Domes (Replace). A new conservatory would be built at Mitchell Park but not in a dome shape. The cost of this option is approximately $40 million.
  • Demolish Domes without rebuilding a conservatory (Demolish). In this option, the three standing domes would be demolished and related activities would cease at Mitchell Park. The cost for this option is approximately $2 million to demolish the Domes.
