Milwaukee County Supervisors Celebrate Black History Month
The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisor observed Black History Month at the February 5, 2009 County Board meeting.

Supervisor Thomas introduced Pastor John McVicker of Christ the King Baptist Church to deliver the Invocation at the beginning of a County Board meeting. Click here to listen to the audio.

Delores "Dee" Hervey, the Board's Chief Committee Clerk, addressed the meaning of Black History Month in light of the election of President Barack Obama. Her remarks follow CLICK HERE.

Supervisor Thomas attends a Unity Caucus luncheon at Ponderosa hosted by Alderman Willie Wade, which was attended by Mayor Barrett, Sup. Lipscomb, Congresswoman Moore, Alderwoman Coggs and Alderman Hamilton. The Congresswoman discussed the stimulus package.

Dr. Michael Eric Dyson has been named by Ebony as one of the hundred most influencial black Americans. Dr. Dyson is a professor at Georgetown University where he teaches Theology, English and African American Studies.

At the September Board Meeting, Supervisor Thomas presented a citation to Mr. John Dowell, who is retiring as Director of Workforce Diversity and Coporate Staffing at Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee.
