Access from Watertown Plank Road was permanently closed January 6, 2014
The Parks Administration Building will be accessible from Discovery Parkway, the north/south road running between Watertown Plank Road and Swan Boulevard. GPS units may not reflect the new access. Get Directions to Parks Administration.

 Parks Happenings   

Menomonee River Pkwy Closure
On Wed., Oct. 1, 2014, the Oak Leaf Trail will be temporarily closed east of Charles Hart Parkway for City of Wauwatosa sewer installation. A path detour will be in place.

 

On Thurs., Oct. 2, 2014 the parkway will be closed to vehicular traffic just east of Charles Hart Parkway.  Traffic signs will be in place to direct travelers.

 

Menomonee River Parkway will be closed to through traffic from Swan Blvd to Harmonee on Fri., Oct. 3, 2014. The contractor will be installing storm sewer just east of Charles Hart Parkway.

I-794 Eastbound Exit Ramp to Lincoln Memorial Drive to Close Nov. 4-Fall 2015
As part of the Hoan Bridge project, the exit ramp to Lincoln Memorial Drive will be closed.
The LMD southbound entrance ramp to I-794 East (Southbound) will also close during this time.

DO NOT MOVE firewood out of the quarantine counties.

  • Buy firewood near camp sites or from a state-certified firewood vendor. See the vendor list
  • Learn the signs of EAB infestation at www.emeraldashborer.wi.gov
  • Report ash trees showing signs of infestation. Call the EAB hotline at 1-800-462-2803 or email DATCPemeraldashborer@wi.gov

Work to improve safety along the OLT will involve intermittent closures of trail segments with minor rerouting.

Oak Leaf Trail Reconstruction:
Underwood Creek Parkway

The Oak Leaf Trail along the Underwood Creek Parkway
from Fairview Avenue south to Washington Avenue—will be closed for reconstruction. See the construction map or detour map

 

Menomonee River Pkwy & Church Street
The morning of Thurs., Sept. 25, 2014, flaggers will direct bike traffic on the path. Trail patrons are reminded to obey signage and the direction of the flaggers.

 

Utility Line Clearance
Mon., Sept. 29, 2014, crews will be working along the OLT segment from Locust Street north to Providence Avenue. Work will be performed from 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Trail access will be available, but users are reminded to use caution when traveling through the work zones. Work zones will be marked with signage and cones. Work is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 3, 2014, weather permitting.
