07-26-09 Milwaukee County Sheriff Increases Lakefront Patrols

In an effort to create and maintain an environment free of crime and disorder, Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. increased patrols yesterday at the Lakefront during the Bradford Beach Jam and Milwaukee Air Show. Both events attracted large crowds creating a peaceful and family-fun environment.

Sheriff Clarke’s Lakefront / Parks enforcement initiative began in 2005 in an effort to provide a sense of security and restore the quality of life for law-abiding citizens in Milwaukee County.  “Our public spaces make Milwaukee County unique from outlying areas. In fact, our lakefront and park system makes Milwaukee County a destination for visitors as well as the citizens who live here. They provide a convenient, inexpensive and beautiful way to spend a long afternoon. We’re going to keep it that way.” Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke said.

The following arrests, citations, and other law enforcement responses included:

OWI Arrest: 1

Citations Issued: 45

Medical Responses: 1 (non-life threatening)

Lost Child: 1 (reunited in less than 5 minutes)

Vehicles Towed: 7
