  • Winter driving is dangerous- in the past 5 years alone Wisconsin has averaged 18,000 winter season car crashes. The Wisconsin DOT has driving tips to help:
-Practice slow driving when "re-learning" how to drive in slippery conditions
-Be gentle with the acelerator and the break
-Don't use cruise control in wintery conditions
-Don't be overconfident in a four-wheel drive vehicle: the ability to drive faster than others doesn't mean you can stop faster
-If your car slides off the road, gets stuck, or disabled, stay inside if possible with your seat belt fastened until help arrives; your vehicle can protect you from other cars.
-ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT- you will need the extra protection even in fender-benders
