Ages 4–6

Must be accompanied by an adult.
 

You and your preschooler will join others as a naturalist guides you through special topics, crafts and outdoor activities.

Tracks and Scat
Winter means wildlife! Tracks, droppings, homes, and feeding signs are all clues of our wild neighbors. Learn how to decipher wildlife signs and then, weather permitting, go exploring for signs of our winter wildlife.

Groundhogs Galore
Learn the origins of Groundhog Day as we dig deep into these cute critters.  NatureNauts will make their own craft groundhog that pops out of a hole. Come prepared to go outside for a short walk in search of groundhog burrows.

Maple Magic
Come learn about sap, sugar, and syrup from Wisconsin’s State Tree- the Sugar Maple.  Children will hear the story of Maggie the Maple Tree and visit the Sugarbush to meet Maggie and give her a hug.  After a short walk, everyone will be enjoy a maple syrup treat.

Crazy Over Cranes
Everyone will go crazy for Wisconsin’s most dynamic bird.  NatureNauts will see how they compare to a Crane, learn how to talk like a Crane, do the “Crane Dance”, and discover what it takes raise a baby crane.

Animal Eggs
NatureNauts are sure to be “eggcited” for this “eggcellent” program as they “crack up” over animal eggs.  Discover how birds, frogs, turtles, and snakes all make eggs and then make your own eggy craft. Don’t miss it or the “yolk’s” on you.

Terriffic Turtles
Meet live turtles up close and personal. NatureNauts will discover amazing turtle adaptations and then make a craft turtle.  Be prepared for a short walk to see turtles in their native habitat.

Super Spiders
You won’t be frightened away as we uncover the facts on our eight-legged neighbors. Join us as we play a spider game, make a spider craft, and meet real live spiders up close. It’s lots of Spidery fun!

Buzzy Bees
Discover the buzz on bees! NatureNauts will learn what “busy as a bee” means, as they do the “bee dance”, make a craft bee, and dress up as a beekeeper. We will peer into an active hive and taste the sweet handiwork of our bee friends.

Chipmunk Chatter
Discover the underground world of Chipmunks. NatureNauts will learn the in’s and outs of being a chipmunk as they crawl into a “chipmunk tunnel”, search for chipmunk food, and make their own craft chipmunk. Making an appearance will be a special chipmunk related guest.

Going Batty
NatureNauts will “go batty” as they get the facts on bats! Make a bat craft, see a real bat house, and see how you compare to our bat friends. Discover how bats eat bugs, flies, and gnats, so flutter over to where the bats are at.

Scampering Squirrels
NatureNauts will go nuts as they learn about the acrobatic antics of our squirrely neighbors. See real live squirrels and make a craft squirrel that climbs.

Busy Beaver
NatureNauts will be busy as they discover the secrets of mother nature’s hardest working engineers – the Beaver! Join us as we sing the beaver song, make a craft beaver, and touch a tree that’s been gnawed by a real beaver!
