April 6, 2010:  2010 MILWAUKEE COUNTY LiDAR PHASE II
 

The Milwaukee County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is requesting proposals for professional services necessary to provide for the generation of high quality maps and reports to be derived from recently acquired LiDAR data. The product(s) of this effort are expected to be directly compatible with existing GIS software and offer Milwaukee County significant visualization and analysis capabilities for purposes of conducting countywide flood plain and flood risk assessment activities.   Proposals are due May 3, 2010.   For more information, click here.

 
March 2, 2010:  2010 MILWAUKEE COUNTY IMAGERY PROJECT
 

The Milwaukee County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) Division of Architecture, Engineering, and Environmental Services (AE&ES), is requesting proposals for professional services to cotemporaneously acquire Spring 2010 High-Resolution Orthophotographic Imagery, Oblique Imagery and Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) data.   Proposals are due March 12, 2010.   For more information, click here.

 
February 17, 2010:  COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT - EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CDBG-EAP) FUNDING AWARD
 

Milwaukee County was recently awarded a CDBG-EAP Grant to fund a 2010 LiDAR project. The LiDAR data will be used to update the 2005 topographic 2 foot contours and will be acquired at .7 meter Nominal Point Spacing (NPS), which is capable of generating 1 foot contours. This project is approved and is at the point of finalizing the contract for a March 2010 flight.

 
December 15, 2009:  COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE view public hearing notice (PDF)
 

Milwaukee County will conduct a public hearing regarding its application for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Emergency Assistance Program (EAP) funding to support improvements to foodplain mapping. The public is invited to attend to learn about Milwaukee County’s Floodplain Mapping Program, to help identify additional local floodplain mapping needs, and to comment on the activities proposed to be included in the CDBG-EAP application.  A copy of the grant application PDF can be viewed online by clicking here.

An application for Flood Disaster relief funding was recently submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Commerce for purposes of Floodplain Mapping improvements. The requested funds are being made available through the Community Development Block Grant - Emergency Assistance Program (CDBG-EAP). The grant funds, if awarded, will be used to acquire LiDAR data for the preparation of FEMA-approved Accuracy Assessment reports for the entire county.
