In Celebration of Earth Day Sunday, April 22, 2012 Noon–4 p.m., Rain or Shine Special Performance: Kohl's Wild Theater at 1 p.m. Wehr Nature Center
Get outdoors; welcome spring; learn to take better care of our planet!
Visit Wehr Nature Center in Whitnall Park and join us in celebration of Earth Day. We've brought together the best from the past and have added a special presentation by Kohl's Wild Theater to help us celebrate!
In Celebration of Earth Day has activities for your whole family. You can go on naturalist-led hikes, create crafts from recycled materials, learn to reduce your carbon footprint, and watch your little ones enjoy exploring the early-childhood play space. Be among the first to attend, and adopt a tree to take home with you.
Everyone will enjoy and learn from Kohl's Wild Theater, made possible through a partnership between Kohl's Cares and the Zoological Society of Milwaukee.
The 45-minute program uses drama, puppetry, and song to promote conservation of wildlife and animal habitats.
Actors will invite Earth Day visitors to become part of the action by providing sound effects on cue and helping onstage characters. Detective Appletree, of "The Mysterious Case of the Disappearing Bees," will reveal the importance of bees and pollination. During the "Great Wisconsin Wildlife Zoo-per Bowl," families can join the Wetland Whooping Cranes in cheering on the Prairie Badgers or the Forest Wolves.
All ages are welcome. Join us for a great day welcoming spring and celebrating our planet!
