From the Chairman

Dear Citizens,

We enjoy a tremendous quality of life in Milwaukee County.  Nineteen distinct municipalities make Milwaukee County the most populated, diverse and vibrant county in Wisconsin.  Our county government is deeply involved in maintaining the quality of life for our citizens.  From administering health care for the indigent to providing amenities like the Mitchell Park Domes, McKinley Marina and dozens of swimming pools and basketball courts, we are busy working for the people of this community.

I am both proud of the employees who make our county run so smoothly and am honored to serve the taxpayers who provide for a vast array of services.  In Milwaukee County, taxpayers really do get a tremendous value.  You are probably familiar with many county services.

County workers keep our highways clear of snow and safe from accidents.  The Sheriff's Department and Criminal Justice System keep us secure.  The Zoo is a world-class attraction that is owned by the people of Milwaukee County and enjoyed by people from across the globe.  Our public golf courses are some of the best in the country and our Parks system cannot be matched in a metropolitan environment.  Our airport and transit system keep people and commerce moving and play a critical role in our regional economy.

Other county owned facilities like the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, the War Memorial and Art Museum with its brise soleil, the Charles Allis Art Museum and the Milwaukee County Historical Society add value to our community.  Marriage licenses, Small Claims Court and real estate transactions bring hundreds of people to the Courthouse daily.  This website also highlights outstanding services and programs that Milwaukee County offers for veterans, senior citizens and people with disabilities.

I invite you to surf through the website and learn more about Milwaukee County government and services.  I'm sure that you will be impressed by the extent of the reach and the positive impact that the County has on all our citizens.  I hope that you agree that Milwaukee County government is one of the big reasons our community is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.
