Eligibility for Family Care
Family Care is an entitlement. That means eligible older adults are entitled to its services. In Milwaukee County, participants must be at least 18 years of age, have long-term care needs and qualify for Medicaid (T-19).
Cost share
Some Family Care members may have to pay for part of the services they receive. This payment is known as cost share. Cost share is based on the member's income and the cost of the member's care.
Room and board (food and rent) is not a covered benefit under Family Care. If you live in an assisted living facility, you must pay the cost of room and board. If you move to an assisted living facility, you are responsible to pay for the room and board costs of the facility. You must pay for your meals and the cost of your room or apartment. Your team will help you determine if your choice of living arrangement is affordable for you.
