Spanish-speaking volunteers are generally available on the fourthFriday of each month

 

 

The purpose of the Family Law Self-Help Clinic is to assist pro-se litigants in completing forms for family law matters such as divorce, legal separations, various motions, and contempt actions.  All of the forms necessary to file any of the above actions are available in the legal Resource Center in the courthouse for a small fee.  The clinic also provides replacement forms free of charge and sample forms for each action.  The clinic staff guide the litigant through the process and see that the paperwork is filled out properly and complies with local court rules.

 

CLINIC STAFF CAN:

  1. Explain the process if a party has to go to court.
  2. Identify and help locate forms for family and paternity court matters.
  3. Help a party schedule court hearings.
  4. Check paperwork before a party goes to court.
  5. Help arrange for an interpreter for court appearance.
  6. Refer to other agencies for extra help parties may need.
  7. Compute child support per your income figures.

 

CLINIC STAFF CANNOT:

  1. Give legal advice.
  2. Represent a party in court.
  3. Fill out forms for the party.
  4. Tell the party what to say.
  5. Provide assistance in other civil or criminal matters.
