Real Estate Document Examination and Recording
Documents are recorded in Room 103 in the Milwaukee County Courthouse between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Documents with proper fees may be mailed to: Register of Deeds, 901 N. 9th Street, Room 103, Milwaukee WI 53233.
If you visit the Register of Deeds in person, you should arrive by 4:00 PM in order to allow sufficient time for review of your documents.
Documents are not recorded immediately. They are put into the queue with other mailed-in and dropped-off documents to be recorded in the order they are received.
All pages shall be letter or legal size, on white paper and typed or printed in black ink. We can provide information about fees for recording, formats for documents and the submission of real estate transfer returns.
The fee for recording a real estate document is $30.00 regardless of the number of pages, excepting plats which are $50.

*Note: As per WI Act 314, effective June 25, 2010 recording fees will be $30 per document regardless of the number of pages, except for plats which will remain at $50.
