Individuals with severe disabilities, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, may be eligible for employment in Civil Service positions in Milwaukee County government through an alternative certification process provided by the DECA program. With current medical and vocational reports, DECA applicants apply for vacant positions without having to take a Civil Service examination if one is required for the position. Through the DECA program, appointees serve a 520 hour trial work period prior to the probationary period.
