Milwaukee County 2017 Budget
The annual county budget process starts with department requests to the County Executive. These are compiled and together form the Requested Budget. The County Executive makes changes and then submits their proposed budget to the County Board by October 1 of each year. The County Executive's proposed budget is called the Recommended Budget. The Finance and Audit Committee of the County Board holds several public hearings to take testimony from department heads and the public, and makes amendments to the County Executive's Recommended Budget. The full County Board then adopts the final version of the budget and this version is referred to as the Adopted Budget. The 2017 Adopted Budget can be found here.
