ACCESSIBILITY GUIDE
Welcome to the Milwaukee County Courthouse. We hope that the following accessibility information will make your visit a more pleasant one.
Parking: General on-street meter parking on 9th Street, 10th Street, and the frontage drive north of Wells Street
Transit: MCTS bus routes on Wisconsin Avenue are 1 1/2 blocks south of the Courthouse. During rush hours, MCTS Freeway Flyers arrive and depart from 9th & 10th Street locations. http://www.ridemcts.com
Accessible Entrance: 900 N. 10th Street (10th Street, between Wells & State Streets)
Public Safety: To promote building safety, a weapons screening is conducted upon entering the building. Weapons, personal safety devices, sharp implements, etc. are not allowed in the building.
Complimentary Wheelchairs: A limited number of complimentary wheelchairs are maintained by Facility Management (Ground Floor Room G1) for your use while at the Courthouse. A photo ID is required as a deposit. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own mobility devices, as the number of complimentary wheelchairs is limited and are first come first served.
Elevators: Eight accessible elevators are located in the center of the Courthouse.

Accessible Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are located on the north side of the Courthouse, floors 2, 3, 4 & 5.
Office for Persons with Disabilities: The Office is located in room 307 B. It is located on the south-end of the Courthouse on the 3rd floor. To contact the Office, call (414) 278-3932 (voice), (414) 278-3939 (Fax) or 711 (TRS). Please contact Office staff prior to your visit to arrange for any needed accommodations.
Access to Safety Building and Criminal Justice Facility: Courthouse access to these buildings is available via the skywalk located on the north end of the Courthouse First Floor.
TTY and Auditory Listening Devices: TTY payphones are located on the ground and 6th floors of the Courthouse. Auditory listening devices can be reserved from the Office for Persons with Disabilities (see above contact information).
Braille Signage: Braille signage is found throughout the Courthouse on the wall located 60” above the floor on the latch-side of the door.
Food Service and Drinking Fountains: The Courthouse Cafeteria is located on the south end of the Courthouse's Ground Floor. A snack food stand is located at the 10th Street entrance. Accessible water fountains are found throughout the building.
Emergency Evacuation: Each floor has a signed designated area of rescue assistance. People unable to use stairways to evacuate the building are to wait in these areas to be escorted out of the building by safety personnel.
